The Madio meeting space is a gathering space, an artist space, a community space, a blank slate. The space features two adjoining rooms - one best suited as an arrival greeting space, breakout room or social gathering space, and the other as a large gathering space. Both rooms open out onto the back gardens with plenty of windows for natural light and french doors for fresh air. Other amenities include a private bathroom, prep kitchen and outdoor dining patio.
What does Madio mean? Well, everything we do at Black Bear Lodge has a lot of intention behind it (and usually a good story too). When thinking of a name for this new group space, we knew we wanted it to be different. We wanted to create a space for groups to gather that is unlike your typical hotel meeting space - queue bad carpet, overhead lighting and why is the AC always cranking?
So first, a breakdown of the phonetic pronunciation: (Mad-e-oh). And now for the good part, Madio is a word that our two-year-old daughter made up. She says it while confidently pointing around the house, as if casting a spell. Madio! Madio! Madio! The word stuck with us as it is quite fun to say. We felt like it fit with our intentions for the space - it’s unique, fun, inspiring and it can hold different meanings for different people.

We Love Love — Quietly
While we truly cherish love in all its forms, the property is designed to offer a peaceful, intimate atmosphere for all our guests. To maintain that sense of calm, we do not host large wedding ceremonies or receptions.
However, we are happy to welcome micro ceremonies only with 20 guests or fewer, offering a quiet, meaningful way to say “I do.”
