About

There’s something magical about Lake Tahoe. From the clear blue water of the lake to the majestic, pine-filled mountains that surround it, Tahoe offers an unparalleled experience that has stirred people’s senses for generations.

Black Bear Lodge

Black Bear Lodge, our cozy retreat in South Lake Tahoe with rooms, suites, and private cabins is an inviting homebase to experience all that Tahoe has to offer. Our property is scenic and serene, our rooms are spacious and cozy, and our staff is welcoming and conversational. The tranquility of our accommodations evokes feelings of well-being, connection, and warmth. We’re only a short walk away from the beach or Heavenly Mountain, close to adventure but far from the busyness. Black Bear Lodge is more than a hotel—it’s the perfect place to play or pause.

Our Team

Greg and Rachel

Greg and Rachel didn't meet for years despite their paths crossing several times in two different states. The stars finally aligned in 2011 when the couple met in South Lake Tahoe. After falling in love with each other and the community, they knew they wanted to put down permanent roots. In 2017, they purchased the property and began renovations on the Black Bear Lodge. You'll now find them bustling around the hotel, sometimes with their daughters in tow.

Katy

Katy found Black Bear Lodge right at the beginning and the timing could not have been more perfect. She's helped grow the property into what it is today and is our resident green thumb, cultivating our magical flower gardens for guests to enjoy throughout the summer.

Bri

Bri boomeranged back to her home state of Minnesota for one last winter before returning to Lake Tahoe in the summer of 2020. Her welcoming spirit will put you at ease upon check-in, and she’ll happily pour you a glass of wine or a pint after your day’s adventures.

Larissa

Larissa moved to Tahoe from San Francisco and traded countless restaurants for all things outdoors. In the ultimate outdoor playground that is Lake Tahoe, she can be found mountain biking, snowboarding, and enjoying all that lake life has to offer.
